Two Michigan men, Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud, were arrested for allegedly plotting an ISIS-inspired Halloween attack, referred to as “pumpkin day.” They purchased firearms, practiced shooting, and communicated via encrypted messages about their extremist plans, which included targeting locations akin to the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting. The FBI uncovered their plot after reviewing a co-conspirator’s phone, revealing searches related to ISIS and discussions of traveling to join the group. Authorities found multiple firearms and ammunition while executing searches linked to the suspects.
