Object That Struck United Flight Windshield May Be Weather Balloon

A United Airlines flight was diverted to Salt Lake City after an object struck its windshield at 36,000 feet, injuring the pilot. WindBorne Systems suggested it may have been one of their weather balloons, and they are collaborating with the FAA and NTSB in the investigation, while the cracked windshield is being sent to the NTSB’s lab for analysis.
