A 67-year-old man from Alvarado, Texas, died on the South Kaibab Trail in the Grand Canyon while attempting to reach the Colorado River for an overnight stay at Phantom Ranch. The National Park Service reported that the hiker became unresponsive below Cedar Ridge, and despite CPR attempts, he could not be revived; investigations are ongoing.
