Remains, sunken boat found 9 months after family goes missing

After nine months of searching, the Maynard family, who went missing during a boat trip in Kachemak Bay, Alaska, has been found. The family, consisting of David, Mary, and their two children, was lost in August 2024 when their boat began taking on water, leading to a distress call. In May 2025, their vessel was discovered with potential human remains on board, and subsequent dive operations recovered three sets of remains, with efforts continuing to locate a fourth.
