The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is considering temporary flight reductions at Newark Liberty International Airport and has launched an emergency task force to address telecommunications issues, as stated by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. Duffy criticized the previous administration for mishandling air traffic control transitions and highlighted that the outdated telecom system contributed to recent disruptions. Plans include replacing copper lines with fiber optics and engaging airlines to propose flight cuts, with a decision expected soon.
