A New Orleans police officer was injured after being dragged by a vehicle while responding to a possible overdose on Thursday morning at a Walmart parking lot. The officer, who was administering aid, became attached to the suspect’s car as it fled, resulting in a struggle where the officer discharged her weapon, hitting the suspect, who later died from injuries sustained in a subsequent collision. The officer is in stable condition at a local hospital, and the incident is under investigation by the NOPD’s Public Integrity Bureau.
