Murderer of Palestinian-American boy sentenced to 53 years

An Illinois man, Joseph Czuba, was sentenced to 53 years in prison for the murder of six-year-old Wadea Al-Fayoumi, an anti-Muslim hate crime linked to the Israel-Hamas war. Czuba, 73, fatally stabbed Wadea 26 times and attacked his mother, Hanan Shaheen, who testified that he targeted them due to the ongoing conflict. The sentencing included 30 years for murder, 20 years for attempted murder, and three years for hate crimes, with President Biden condemning the attack as a “horrific act of hate” that “has no place in America.”
