A dump truck driver in Eden, North Carolina, ran a stop sign and collided with utility workers, resulting in the deaths of four men and injuries to three others. The driver, 66-year-old Michael Ray Vernon, has been charged with a stop sign violation and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle but is not believed to have been impaired. The deceased were identified as Douglas Garland Sides, Madison Carter, William Evans, and Matthew Lockwood, all contractors for Duke Energy.
