Purdue University’s Boilermaker Special mascot involved in deadly collision

A collision involving Purdue University’s Boilermaker Special mascot on a highway in Indiana resulted in one death and two injuries. The crash occurred on U.S. 52 when the mascot vehicle experienced a “possible tire malfunction,” crossing the median and striking a southbound car, killing its driver, whose identity is pending notification. Two Purdue students aboard the Boilermaker Special sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated and released; an investigation is ongoing.
