Karen Read is on trial for the second time regarding the death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, who died in January 2022 after allegedly being struck by Read’s SUV following a night of drinking. The prosecution claims she left the scene, while her defense argues against the accusation, alleging a cover-up and highlighting flaws in the police investigation. Key evidence includes Read’s own statements, DNA findings on her vehicle, and conflicting testimonies regarding her actions the night of the incident.
