The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed linebacker Jacoby Windmon for a third stint with the team ahead of the upcoming training camp. Windmon, 24, previously played for the Steelers during parts of the 2024 and 2025 NFL seasons after going undrafted following his college career at UNLV and Michigan State. He initially joined the Steelers as a practice squad player and later had brief tenures with the Carolina Panthers and the Columbus Aviators in the UFL, where he recorded six tackles and a forced fumble in three games last season. Windmon aims to secure a spot on the Steelers’ roster as they prepare for their training camp starting July 28, with the 2026 NFL season kicking off on September 13 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Why It Matters

Jacoby Windmon’s return to the Steelers highlights the team’s ongoing efforts to bolster their linebacker corps, which is crucial for defensive strategies in the NFL. The Steelers have a history of developing players from practice squads into significant contributors, illustrating their commitment to player growth and versatility. Windmon’s previous experience with the team and performance in the UFL provide him with a competitive edge as he seeks to make the final roster. The upcoming training camp will be pivotal for Windmon and other players vying for positions as the Steelers prepare for the new season.
