Sir Keir Starmer reaffirmed Britain’s support for Ukraine joining Nato in a call with Volodymyr Zelensky amid a major security summit in Munich, following talks between the pair since Donald Trump’s doubtful stance. The prime minister emphasized the UK’s commitment to Ukraine’s path to Nato and assured Zelensky that there could be no talks about Ukraine without Ukraine, offering strong security guarantees and lethal aid. Meanwhile, Trump suggested resolving the war with Putin and US defence secretary Hegseth proposed allowing Russia to keep Crimea and barring Ukraine from Nato.
