Sir Keir Starmer has been accused of giving with one hand and taking with the other as a £100m boost for hospices in England may be offset by Rachel Reeves’s national insurance hike. Shadow health minister Dr Caroline Johnson criticized Labour for claiming credit for the funding while also cutting money from hospices. Although the funding is welcomed by Hospice UK, Marie Curie warns that it may not be sufficient to address the needs of the sector.
