During a conference in Brussels, Ukrainian civil society actors collaborated with European policymakers to discuss the role of civil society and Trade Unions in resisting Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, amidst pressure from US President Trump for natural resources. Speakers included Ukraine’s Ambassador to the EU, journalists, care workers, environmentalists, and academics, focusing on rebuilding an equal, democratic Ukraine with defended workers’ rights. Topics covered included the impact of martial law on labor, vulture capitalism, repression of Trade Unions in occupied territories, and the importance of supporting Ukrainian workers in their struggle for rights and standards in post-war reconstruction and EU accession negotiations.
