Southwest Airlines Flight Struck by Lightning
A Southwest Airlines flight from Tampa to Denver was struck by lightning during its descent on Sunday evening, amidst stormy weather over Memorial Day weekend. Emergency crews responded, but the aircraft landed safely at Denver International Airport with no reported injuries; it has since been taken out of service for inspection. The severe weather affected travel across the southern and central U.S., resulting in over 2,700 flight delays on Monday, coinciding with the first Memorial Day requiring REAL ID for domestic flights.
