South Korean court reduces Han Duck-soo’s prison sentence in martial law case

A South Korean appeals court has reduced former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo’s prison sentence from 23 years to 15 years for his involvement in ex-President Yoon Suk Yeol’s martial law declaration. The court acknowledged Han’s lengthy public service but noted his failure to uphold his responsibilities. While the majority of his convictions were upheld, the judge emphasized a lack of evidence for active participation in the insurrection. Han has been incarcerated since his original sentencing in January.
