Brock Rechsteiner, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, has signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. He joined the team on May 12 after impressing during a tryout at the Saints’ rookie minicamp. Rechsteiner, a wide receiver from Jacksonville State, played in 37 games during his college career, recording 53 receptions for 629 yards and seven touchdowns, along with three rushing attempts for 17 yards and a touchdown. He expressed his desire to pursue a professional football career but also plans to transition to wrestling if football does not pan out. Rechsteiner is the second member of his family to pursue a professional sports career, following his cousin Bronson Rechsteiner, also known as Bron Breakker, who briefly signed with the Ravens in 2020 before moving to wrestling.

Why It Matters

This story highlights the increasing trend of athletes pursuing dual careers in sports and entertainment, particularly in wrestling, which has strong ties to football. Brock Rechsteiner’s background and aspirations reflect the influence of his father’s legacy in professional wrestling and the growing intersection between sports and entertainment industries. Historically, numerous former NFL players have transitioned to successful careers in wrestling, underscoring the potential for cross-disciplinary success among athletes. Rechsteiner’s signing with the Saints adds to the ongoing narrative of undrafted players striving for a place in the NFL amid competitive rosters.
