Ellen Roome, whose son Julian died in April 2022, is seeking answers after finding him dead in his room. She believes he may have been influenced by dangerous online challenges on social media platforms like TikTok. Roome, along with other parents, is suing TikTok for not allowing access to their children’s social media accounts to see potentially harmful content. The recent death of Maia Walsh, a 13-year-old who commented about not living past 14 after seeing concerning content on TikTok, has further highlighted the need for accountability and regulation of social media platforms.
