‘Smile 2’ | Anatomy of a Scene

Parker Finn, writer, director, and producer of “Smile 2,” introduces a scene featuring Skye Riley, portrayed by Naomi Scott, who is experiencing intense paranoia as she encounters a group of smilers in a mirrored hallway. Collaborating with production designer Lester Cohen and choreographer Celia Rowlson-Hall, Finn orchestrates a menacing yet dance-like chase sequence with 14 dancers embodying the smile while engaging in intricate choreography. The scene showcases the dancers’ ability to maintain the smile while executing movement, as well as Scott’s seamless integration of choreography into her portrayal of a sudden attack.
