The 30th annual Medalist Tournament is set for June 20-21 at Rolling Meadows and Cascade, inviting local golfers to register until June 13. Early signups before May 18 will receive special items, with participation capped at the first 88 entrants. The entry fee is $40 for seniors and super seniors (age 65+), and only $10 for juniors and women. Golfers can pay via Venmo or by mailing a check to the tournament organizer, Rick Scherer. Cart and greens fees will be $35 at Rolling Meadows and $42 for non-season pass holders at Cascades. After the first round, divisions will be flighted, and women will play a single round at Cascades. Additionally, signups for the 98th City Golf Tournament will open later this month, with qualifying rounds scheduled for June 27-28.

Why It Matters

The Medalist Tournament is a significant event in the local golf calendar, celebrating three decades of participation from the community. Golf tournaments like this foster local engagement, promote sportsmanship, and encourage youth participation in the sport, which is crucial for its growth. Historically, tournaments have provided a platform for amateur golfers to showcase their skills and connect with others in the community. The upcoming City Golf Tournament further emphasizes the region’s commitment to golf, offering competitive opportunities for players of all ages.
