Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio Commissions Cold Chain Facility and Ambulance Services in Bonthe District to Strengthen Healthcare Delivery

In a significant move towards enhancing healthcare delivery, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio commissioned a cold chain facility for Bonthe District Health Management Team and launched the National Emergency Medical Services program as part of the government’s Quality Essential Health Service and System Support project. The President emphasized the importance of equitable healthcare access, commending the Ministry of Health for operationalizing the facility and introducing ambulance services to improve emergency response times and save lives. Dr. Desmond Maada Kangbai highlighted the importance of the cold chain facility in expanding vaccine storage capacity and preventing stockouts, while Minister of Health Dr. Austin Demby praised President Bio’s visionary leadership in transforming the healthcare sector and achieving high immunization rates and reductions in maternal and infant mortality.
