Shokz has unveiled two new models of its open earbuds, the OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air, following the release of the original OpenDots One in May 2025. Both new models are designed to be clipped behind the ear, allowing sound to be projected into the ear canal without blocking it, promoting comfort and environmental awareness. The OpenDots Air, priced at $129.95, are an entry-level option featuring Bassphere technology for enhanced sound quality and customizable EQ settings via an app. They offer a battery life of up to nine hours, extendable to 36 hours with a charging case. The OpenDots 2, retailing at $199.95, weigh slightly more but support Dolby Audio and include additional features like a bone-conduction microphone for clearer calls, with a battery life of 10 hours on their own and 40 hours with the case. Both models utilize Bluetooth 6.1 and can connect to two devices simultaneously.

Why It Matters

The introduction of the OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air demonstrates Shokz’s commitment to innovation in the audio sector, particularly in the rapidly evolving wireless earbuds market. With the growing trend towards open-ear designs, these products cater to consumers seeking comfort and situational awareness, which is crucial in urban environments. The pricing strategy also indicates a competitive approach, aiming to attract a broader audience by offering advanced features at various price points. As audio technology continues to integrate features like AI for noise reduction and enhanced sound quality, these new models reflect the industry’s shift toward multifunctional audio devices that meet diverse user needs.
