The Shire of Gnowangerup will hold an extraordinary ballot in March to fill one council vacancy after only three candidates were nominated for four positions, resulting in unopposed elections for incumbents Rebecca Kiddle, Rebecca O’Meehan, and Peter Callaghan. Shire president Kate O’Keeffe aims to attract younger candidates, emphasizing that local government involvement is for community benefit rather than personal gain.
