Shares of Japan’s Seven & i Holdings plummeted 12.44% after the founding family failed to secure financing for a buyout of the convenience store operator, resulting in a $5 billion loss in market cap. The management buyout plan, reported to be worth over $53.69 billion, was abandoned following this development, as per Yomuiri newspaper.
