Two confirmed and five suspected cases of hantavirus have been reported on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which is currently held near Cape Verde. Of the seven cases, three people have died, including a Dutch couple and a German national, while one individual is critically ill and three have mild symptoms. The WHO has initiated contact tracing for passengers on a flight taken by one of the deceased and plans for evacuations. The ship may sail to Spain for further investigation and screening of remaining passengers.
