SINGAPORE: A company owner, Wang Yue, was sentenced to six months in prison and fined S$181,000 for selling illegal streaming devices at Sim Lim Square from 2018 to 2022. Wang’s company, Ace Technologies, sold pirate set-top boxes that provided unauthorized access to copyrighted content, earning monthly profits of up to S$18,000. Despite warnings from the Premier League, Wang continued selling the devices until a police raid in October 2022 resulted in the seizure of over 1,000 illegal units.
