The Republican-led Senate is holding over a dozen hearings this week for President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks, ranging from smooth confirmations like Sen. Marco Rubio for secretary of state to others needing support, such as Pete Hegseth for defense secretary. Hearings begin with Hegseth, Doug Collins, and Doug Burgum on Tuesday, followed by Rubio, Pam Bondi, and others on Wednesday, and Bondi, Elise Stefanik, and others on Thursday. Vice President-elect JD Vance may break ties for a confirmation vote, while some nominees face opposition from Democrats for rushing the process and concerns over background checks.
