Corals Rescued from Smugglers
Approximately 200 live corals seized by U.S. Fish and Wildlife at JFK Airport, originally smuggled from Indonesia, are recovering at the New York Aquarium, which acts as a “coral hospital.” These corals, protected under the Endangered Species Act, serve as educational ambassadors highlighting the impacts of illegal wildlife trade on marine ecosystems.
