Another child with measles in Texas has died, marking the second pediatric death in a fast-growing outbreak that has infected nearly 500 people in Texas since January, with another death suspected in New Mexico, making these the first measles-related deaths in the US in a decade. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is expected to attend the child’s funeral, as the Texas Department of State Health Services reported 481 confirmed cases of measles, including six infants at a day care center in Lubbock. Health officials are urging families to vaccinate their children, as the outbreak has now spread to at least two other states, with 628 reported measles cases nationally in 2025.
