Search underway after plane, helicopter crash near DCA – NBC Chicago

An American Airlines flight and a military helicopter collided and crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport Wednesday night, resulting in the recovery of over a dozen bodies. The airliner had 64 people on board, while the helicopter carried three individuals. Emergency responders, including fireboats and multiple fire departments, are conducting a frantic search for crash victims in the river, with Reagan National Airport expected to remain closed through at least 11 a.m. Thursday.
