Hiker fatally attacked by mountain lion on Colorado trail

The search for a mountain lion that fatally attacked a solo hiker in Colorado ended after two predators were killed but a third remained elusive. The victim, Kristen Marie Kovatch, died from asphyxia due to a mountain lion attack on the Crosier Mountain trail. Two hikers discovered her body and scared off a lion, while two others were later shot by officials. Colorado has thousands of mountain lions, and a similar incident occurred on the same trail in November.
