The Seattle Seahawks have waived wide receiver Michael Briscoe, an undrafted free agent who recently signed a three-year, $3.1 million deal that included $125,000 guaranteed. His release was designated as a “failure to disclose physical condition,” indicating that Briscoe did not inform the team about a physical issue prior to signing. Although the specific nature of the undisclosed condition is unknown, the Seahawks’ decision means Briscoe will now seek another opportunity in the NFL. During his college career at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, he amassed 1,765 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, with his standout season occurring in 2025 when he recorded 779 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. However, his performance at rookie minicamp was reportedly subpar, marked by several dropped passes.
Why It Matters
Waiving Michael Briscoe under a “failure to disclose physical condition” designation highlights the NFL’s strict policies regarding player health transparency. This situation can impact a player’s career trajectory, as undrafted free agents often have limited chances to prove themselves in the league. The Seahawks had invested a notable amount in Briscoe for an undrafted player, reflecting their initial belief in his potential. The outcome of this situation may also influence how teams approach future signings and disclosures, particularly regarding player health and fitness.
