Subway’s Decline in US Locations
Subway has closed 631 locations in the US in 2024, bringing its total to less than 20,000 for the first time in 20 years, marking the eighth consecutive year of location closures. Although the chain has faced significant declines since its peak of around 27,000 in 2015, it reported global growth with nearly 37,000 locations worldwide. Despite these losses, Subway remains the largest restaurant chain in the US, surpassing Starbucks and McDonald’s in total locations.
