Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, is launching a startup called World, which aims to address the challenge of proving human identity in a world filled with bots and AI. The company is distributing 20,000 retina-scanning devices, known as Orbs, to create digital IDs that verify a person’s humanity without storing biometric data, responding to privacy concerns raised during its initial launch in 2023.
