Emmanuel Clase and Ryan Helsley were named AL and NL Relievers of the Year, respectively, while Shohei Ohtani won his fourth consecutive Outstanding Designated Hitter Award. Ohtani also received the Hank Aaron Award for outstanding offensive performance, along with Aaron Judge. Chris Sale, with a 2.38 ERA and 225 strikeouts, earned his eighth All-Star selection after a successful comeback from Tommy John surgery, helping lead the Boston Red Sox to a World Series title in 2018.
