Quebec Considers Legal Action Against Auto Insurance Board Officials
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Quebec government is considering legal action against top officials at the SAAQ and private firms after a report revealed they misled the government about cost overruns in a digital project. Treasury Board President France-Élaine Duranceau is leading a committee to explore recommendations from Judge Denis Gallant’s report, which criticized the SAAQ’s management. The SAAQ’s CEO, Serge Lamontagne, has apologized and pledged reforms, while acknowledging the need to attract IT talent for future projects. Although civil liability protections exist for SAAQ employees, criminal conduct may still be pursued, and the anti-corruption unit is investigating further.
