A storm system is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Auckland, Waikato, and Taranaki regions tonight, with wind gusts reaching up to 100km/h and rainfall of 10-20mm/h. Auckland Emergency Management advises residents to stay indoors and secure loose furniture items. MetService meteorologist Sarah Haddon warns of thunder, lightning, and heavy rain in areas south of Auckland City to Taranaki, urging residents to prepare for the storm passing through tonight.
