Air New Zealand plans to increase the availability of Kiwi beverages at its Sydney airport lounge after receiving complaints about a lack of New Zealand beer options. The issue has sparked discussions about the challenges faced by New Zealand brewers in the Australian market, particularly due to Australia’s excise relief for alcohol manufacturers, which has been in place since 2021. Garage Project co-founder Jos Ruffell highlighted the disparity, noting the lounge’s selection of Kiwi wines without any New Zealand beers.
