‘Rust’ armorer convicted in fatal on-set shooting death is released from prison

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film armorer convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the 2021 fatal shooting on the set of “Rust,” has been released from prison after serving a portion of her 18-month sentence. She was responsible for the firearms when a prop gun held by actor Alec Baldwin discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Gutierrez-Reed will be on parole for a year, and she previously received 18 months of probation for a separate firearm-related charge.
