The UK, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands claimed he was poisoned with a deadly toxin found in the skin of Ecuadorian dart frogs, pointing to Russian involvement. However, the ambassador dismissed the accusations, stating that Russia had neither the means nor the motive to carry out such an act.
