Russia’s Lavrov, Putin’s foreign policy aide to meet US counterpart in Saudi Arabia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with US counterpart Marco Rubio in Saudi Arabia, along with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov. This meeting comes after US President Donald Trump expressed willingness to meet with Putin to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, following a phone call where they agreed to start ceasefire negotiations immediately. Despite the diplomatic efforts, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy remains skeptical of Putin’s trustworthiness as a negotiating partner.
