Tanker Seized in Belgian-French North Sea Raid

A suspected Russian shadow fleet oil tanker named Ethera has been seized in the North Sea in a joint Belgian-French operation. The vessel, on the EU sanctions list, was intercepted to cut off Russia’s funding for the war in Ukraine. The ship, believed to have sailed with false documents, is being escorted to the Belgian port of Zeebrugge for investigation. The move follows previous seizures of tankers carrying Russian cargoes, which were termed “piracy” by the Kremlin.
