Moscow indicated readiness for a nuclear confrontation with the West after Ukraine was given permission to attack Russian territory using U.S.-made missiles. Ukrainian forces reportedly used ATACMS missiles to target a Russian military facility in the Bryansk region, with Russia confirming the attack and claiming to have shot down five of the six missiles. In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree updating the country’s nuclear doctrine, warning against Ukraine using long-range weapons and shifting parameters for when Russia can use nuclear weapons.
