The State Department has preserved a database on Ukrainian children abducted by the Russian government during the war in Ukraine, which lawmakers feared had been deleted. Researchers at Yale University, under the Conflict Observatory program, had tracked over 30,000 abducted children, with detailed information on over 300 traced to Russia. The data will be transferred to the International Criminal Court and Europol, following concerns over funding cuts and accusations of war crimes against Russian officials.
