On April 15, 1945, the Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD) liberated Leeuwarden, Netherlands, amidst rain and isolated gunfire, marking a pivotal moment near the end of World War II. As German troops withdrew, locals celebrated the Canadians’ arrival, which symbolized their liberation. On the 80th anniversary, SC Cambuur football club commemorated this event by unveiling a special jersey inspired by the Dragoons’ uniform, featuring the Canadian Maple Leaf and the Dragoon’s badge, while 100-year-old veteran Jim Parks narrated a video honoring the occasion.
