Self-Driving Taxis Coming to London
London will soon welcome self-driving taxis as Uber and Lyft partner with Baidu to introduce its electric robotaxis, the RT6 model, in 2026. Although Waymo has begun testing autonomous taxis in London, experts suggest that these vehicles will likely require a safety driver due to the city’s complex roads. The primary goal of the trials is to gather data for adaptation, with concerns about data privacy being addressed by compliance with UK regulations. While fully driverless taxis are seen as a long-term goal, immediate implementations may still involve human oversight.
