The 2024 Road House remake is filled with even more action than the original. The film, led by Jake Gyllenhaal and starring Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Lukas Gage, Conor McGregor, Dominique Columbus, and others, is set to arrive on Prime Video soon. Dominique spoke exclusively with Hollywood Life in a video interview about his experience working with Jake.

“You can see why he has been producing such high-quality work for years,” Dominique observed. “Look at the dedication in his physical transformation, right? It’s a form of method acting, changing your body to become that character. It’s amazing to witness that level of dedication and focus. You can see the effort. And for me, that was an incredible experience.”

Without giving away any spoilers, Dominique described his experience working with Jake Gyllenhaal. The Road House cast filmed their scenes in the Dominican Republic over a period of four months.

“You know, you spend three and a half, four months on set with these guys,” Dominique explained. “My character, Reef, is in the road house. So, there are many incredible moments with all of us, including Jake.”

The movie is based on the original 1989 film starring Patrick Swayze. With the current trend of prequels, sequels, and reboots, Dominique hinted that the Road House cast and crew have taken things up a notch compared to the ’80s version.

“The work we all put into this project was very fun, but it required a lot of hours of effort,” Dominique emphasized. “It required figuring out the choreography for stunts.”

While portraying his character, Reef, who Dominique described as the “friend everyone wants” and someone who “has your back,” he highlighted the stunt work accomplished by him and his co-stars. He also mentioned the importance of recognizing stunt coordinators and all stunt performers.

“I really want the stunt team to receive recognition,” Dominique said. “It bothers me that the Academy Awards do not acknowledge stuntmen and women. When I see people performing stunts on set, it’s not an easy task.”

The new Road House will be available on Prime Video on March 21.
