Angel Studios has announced an ambitious slate of ten films for 2026, expanding its theatrical offerings with a diverse range of genres. The lineup includes “Runner,” a thriller featuring Owen Wilson, set for release on September 11. The studio will also reimagine the classic Western “Angel and the Badman,” this time starring Tommy Lee Jones. Additionally, a Cold War drama focusing on the relationship between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev will feature Jeff Daniels and Jared Harris. The biopic “Milton Hershey,” starring Finn Wittrock, will explore the life of the iconic chocolate entrepreneur, while the holiday musical “Drummer Boy” promises to add festive cheer. Other previously announced films include “Animal Farm,” directed by Andy Serkis, and “Young Washington,” set for release on May 1 and July 3, respectively, alongside the biblical epic “Zero A.D.” scheduled for a Christmas release.

Why It Matters

Angel Studios has seen significant growth in the theatrical space, particularly following the success of “Sound of Freedom” in 2023. The studio’s unique distribution model, which engages its 2.2 million-member Angel Guild for feedback and support, allows it to resonate deeply with its audience. This approach has enabled Angel to carve out a niche in a competitive industry, focusing on storytelling that reflects its viewers’ values. With the film industry increasingly emphasizing audience engagement and unique narratives, Angel’s strategy positions it well for continued success in the evolving landscape of cinema.
