Rural road safety: Family’s plea after traumatic horse accident on East Coast

The Reedy family from Ngamoe, East Coast, is advocating for driver safety after Jimmy Reedy sustained severe head and brain injuries when his horse was spooked by a passing truck. The incident occurred on October 7 last year on Waiapu Rd, State Highway 35, while he was riding his horse Sass, which was subsequently euthanized. His wife, Leeann Rangiuaia Reedy, emphasized the importance of motorists exercising caution around horse riders, especially after the truck carrying empty water tanks startled Sass.
