Paul Mescal was mentioned by director Ridley Scott in relation to the new Gladiator sequel, where Irish actor Barry Keoghan was initially set to play a villain but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict. Keoghan’s absence was due to his involvement in the film Saltburn, which Ridley Scott praised as one of the best films he had seen. Scott also commended Keoghan’s talent, comparing him to the likes of Joaquin Phoenix and Paul Mescal, highlighting his complexity and worth as an actor.
